Seminar about "MODELING THE INVENTORY COORDINATION DECISIONS IN A MULTI-STAGE SUPPLY CHAIN" at Faculty of Computing in Rabigh

Dr. Ab Rahman presented a seminar about "MODELING THE INVENTORY COORDINATION DECISIONS IN A MULTI-STAGE SUPPLY CHAIN" at Faculty of Computing and Information Technology in Rabigh on Monday 12/12/2011 at 12:00 noon. The faculty members attended the seminar. The following is the brief of the seminar:
Supply chain production and inventory coordination have been getting a lot of attention but most of the developed models deal with two-stage chains. Moreover, some models on a multi-stage supply chains were based on certain restrictive assumptions. Therefore, there is a need to analyze models for more realistic analysis of the supply chain. The objective is to identify the role of the supply chain decisions in the coordination and optimization of costs and accepted service levels. Mathematical optimization integrated models will be formulated for some different inventory coordination mechanisms such as the equal cycle, the integer multipliers and powers of two multipliers. Then, the cost minimization procedures will be applied in order to obtain feasible and satisfactory solutions to the problem. A numerical analysis is expected to indicate the lowest total costs. To entice this coordination, a benefit sharing scheme will be proposed. It is hoped that the multi-stage supply chain cost efficiency can be improved via the centralized inventory coordination, mutual trust and proper coordination using the scheme.
